ACADEMC AND SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY COMMITTEE (ASAC) MANDATE

The ASAC is an advisory committee of the SGSP-IWRM to both NUST and SASSCAL, respectively with a clear regional integration and alignment mandate. Amongst others, ASAC takes part in the evaluation of the applications and recommendation of PhD candidates to SASSCAL for awarding of the scholarship.  The SGSP-IWRM shall host 15 international PhD students selected via a rigorous and transparent process following a set of defined criteria.

 

Dr Anna Matros-Goreses is the Director of the Project Services Unit at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). Her area of expertise includes the water-energy-food nexus as well as transboundary governance systems; Water Sciences; Integrated Water Resource Research and Management, Policy Review and Analysis; Water Financing and Economics; Eco-systems valuation and development; Global (Climate) Change related research and management issues.
 
She holds the following qualifications:PhD (Water Sciences with emphasis on Economic regulation), 2009; Distinction: Cranfield University, UK; M.Sc (Water Resources and Livelihood Security); Distinction; 2006: Linkoping University, Sweden; and B.Sc in Natural Resources, specialised in Fisheries and Marine Sciences; Best final year: University of Namibia.

The objective of the SGSP – IWRM is the development and deployment of an innovative and excellent regional collaborative education and research programme at PhD degree level complemented by selected tailor-made short courses for decision makers and industry, as well as a curriculum for a new regional PhD qualification in IWRM.
