ACADEMC AND SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY COMMITTEE (ASAC) MANDATE

The ASAC is an advisory committee of the SGSP-IWRM to both NUST and SASSCAL, respectively with a clear regional integration and alignment mandate. Amongst others, ASAC takes part in the evaluation of the applications and recommendation of PhD candidates to SASSCAL for awarding of the scholarship.  The SGSP-IWRM shall host 15 international PhD students selected via a rigorous and transparent process following a set of defined criteria.

Dr Elijah Ngurare is the Director for Water Supply and Sanitation Coordination in the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform (Namibia). His key focus areas include coordinating portable water supply to rural communities and on resettlement farms throughout the country.

He holds the following qualifications: PhD (Law): Environmental Law, National
University of Ireland; Master of Laws (LL.M): International and Comparative Water Law and
Policy, University of Dundee, Scotland; Bachelor of Science (BSc - Magna Cum Laude): Water Resources
Management/International Relations, Central State University, Ohio, USA.

The objective of the SGSP – IWRM is the development and deployment of an innovative and excellent regional collaborative education and research programme at PhD degree level complemented by selected tailor-made short courses for decision makers and industry, as well as a curriculum for a new regional PhD qualification in IWRM.
