Prof Jean-Marie Kileshye Onema

ACADEMC AND SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY COMMITTEE (ASAC) MANDATE

The ASAC is an advisory committee of the SGSP-IWRM to both NUST and SASSCAL, respectively with a clear regional integration and alignment mandate. Amongst others, ASAC takes part in the evaluation of the applications and recommendation of PhD candidates to SASSCAL for awarding of the scholarship.  The SGSP-IWRM shall host 15 international PhD students selected via a rigorous and transparent process following a set of defined criteria.

Prof Jean-Marie Kileshye Onema is the WaterNet Executive Manager and Head of the WaterNet Secretariat. He manages the implementations of WaterNet capacity building activities across the 16 SADC countries. His expertise is in regional programme management, capacity building, regional hydrology and extreme weather related hazards, land use dynamics and water resources management, water resources assessment and applied hydrology.

He holds a PhD degree from the School of Engineering and Built Environment of the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.

The objective of the SGSP – IWRM is the development and deployment of an innovative and excellent regional collaborative education and research programme at PhD degree level complemented by selected tailor-made short courses for decision makers and industry, as well as a curriculum for a new regional PhD qualification in IWRM.
