Dr Budzanani Tacheba
Biography
Budzanani is Director, Science and Technology/Capacity Development at The Southern Africa Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL), a joint initiative of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Germany in response to challenges of global climate change. He is the founding Director (executive), Innovation and Technology at the Botswana Digital and Innovation Hub (BDIH), where his portfolio responsibilities included research and technology funding and commercialization. He previously held positions of, Research Fellow at the University of Botswana (Okavango Research Institute), Regional Coordinator-Southern Africa, Global Monitoring for Food Security Consortium led by Flemish Institute of Technology (VITO); and interim Coordinator in the Botswana Innovation Hub Project Office, among others. He has more than 20 cumulative years’ experience in academia (Research and Development), industry (products development), and government (science, technology, & innovation policy and Science and Technology Parks operationalization). Served as a non-executive director in the Medical Education Partnership Initiative Advisory Board and the Botswana Geoscience Institute. Currently sits on Botswana Postal Services Limited Board and is Chairman of the Finance and Audit Committee. He is the founding Chairman of the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) Physics and Astronomy departmental Advisory Board. He is a review panellist for the National Research Foundation’s African Union-Flagship projects. Editor of “The Science, Technology and Innovation Policymaking; its trends and objectives in developing countries”. A Harvard Executive Education alumnus.
