Tools and Approaches for Water Resources Management at Basin Scale

The SASSCAL Graduate Studies Programme in Integrated Water Resources Management (SGSP-IWRM) short course💧, titled "Tools and Approaches for Water Resources Management at Basin Scale," officially commenced yesterday at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). 

Expertly facilitated by Dr. Webster Gumindoga, the course is being held in the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) HTTPS Building under the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Partnerships, and will run until the end of the week.

The course brings together 15 water professionals from Angola , Botswana , Namibia , South Africa  , and Zamibia , offering hands-on training in hydrological processes, data-driven decision-making, GIS, modelling, and big data analysis for sustainable water management.⚗️🔬📝

During the official opening ceremony, SASSCAL Executive Director, Prof. Nelago Indongo, emphasised the critical importance of developing a skilled workforce and fostering collaborative approaches to address the pressing water management challenges facing Southern Africa. Supported by SASSCAL and its network of international partners, this short course represents a strategic and forward-looking initiative aimed at strengthening regional capacity for sustainable and integrated water resources management.🤝✨

By convening experts, practitioners, and stakeholders across the SASSCAL member countries, the course directly tackles key transboundary and climate-related issues, laying the foundation for more resilient and cooperative solutions to Southern Africa’s water challenges.🌍💦🍃
