Outstanding Master's graduates who are citizens or permanent residents of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa or Zambia and who aspire to become leaders in water research, innovation and sustainable development.

The Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL) is a regional research and capacity development initiative that strengthens scientific knowledge, innovation and evidencebased decision-making for sustainable development across Southern Africa. Through collaborative research, postgraduate training and regional partnerships, SASSCAL builds scientific capacity to address climate change, sustainable water management, biodiversity conservation and resilient livelihoods. The SGSP-IWRM is one ofSASSCAL's flagship capacity development programmes, developing the next generation of African researchers and leaders in Integrated Water Resources Management.

A distinctive feature of the programme is the international scientific mobility scheme. Successful candidates will spend at least three months at the International Centre for Water Resources and Global Change (ICWRGC) in Koblenz, Germany, engaging with internationally renowned researchers, accessing world-class research infrastructure, receiving advanced scientific training and strengthening international collaborations that enhance the quality and global impact of their doctoral research.
