ACADEMC AND SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY COMMITTEE (ASAC) MANDATE

The ASAC is an advisory committee of the SGSP-IWRM to both NUST and SASSCAL, respectively with a clear regional integration and alignment mandate. Amongst others, ASAC takes part in the evaluation of the applications and recommendation of PhD candidates to SASSCAL for awarding of the scholarship.  The SGSP-IWRM shall host 15 international PhD students selected via a rigorous and transparent process following a set of defined criteria.

Dr Marianela Fader is the deputy director of the International Centre for Water Resources and Global Change, located at the German Federal Institute of Hydrology in Koblenz. She leads studies in the area of the water-energy-food ecosystem nexus, as well as climate change impacts on food security, hydrology and irrigation water use. She also teaches special classes at summer schools and universities, and supervises students in cooperation with various universities.

She holds the following qualifications: PhD in Earth System Modelling, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research; Master Studies: Geography, Secondary subjects: Economics of Natural Resources, Politics, Bioclimatology, at the University of Göttingen; and Geography Studies at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (Argentina).

The objective of the SGSP – IWRM is the development and deployment of an innovative and excellent regional collaborative education and research programme at PhD degree level complemented by selected tailor-made short courses for decision makers and industry, as well as a curriculum for a new regional PhD qualification in IWRM.
